Remembering the Purple Lady

Rachel Presha, aka “The Purple Lady”, lived along what is now route 17 in north Suffolk.

She painted her house, yard items, and telephone poles purple, as high as she could reach anyway. The Purple Lady was a joy to spot walking down the street, in head-to-toe purple.

Rachel passed away in 2017, but her legacy lives on to many locals. One of her telephone poles, captured here, can still be seen peeking through the trees along route 17, near the Harbour View stoplight.

10x20” oil on gallery wrapped canvas, with the scene extending on the edges.
