Pierceville House, recently demolished in 2021, was one of the oldest houses in Virginia. The land was originally a part of a land grant from King Charles I in the 1600s. Thomas Pierce bought 300 acres in Smithfield in the 1730s, and built the original house.

For many years, trees grew so high along Main Street, it blocked the house from view. When the trees were cut down as a part of demolition, it revealed the brick gate, featured in this painting.

“Pierceville” is a 12”x24” original acrylic painting, showcasing the historic site’s brick entryway. The grey cloudy sky and soggy landscape sets an appropriately melancholy mood.

Framed in a matte black, this piece is ready to hang in your home.
